When Chris Hetherington and Ray Pedretti began Circling Shark in 2002, they already had more than 40 years network experience behind them. They had both been toying with the idea of breaking free and feeding the networks with program content, rather than being force fed from the inside. They were a bit like "circling sharks" - ready to pounce on what they thought was a growing opportunity, rather than sit and watch the Australian film and television industry become centralised into redundancy.

Ray Pedretti has worked throughout Australia, South East Asia and London. He's currently the Executive Producer of Can We Help? on ABC TV and Series Producer of Postcards WA on Channel Nine.

Chris Hetherington has worked throughout Australia, Asia and North America. Last year Chris headed the Circling Shark Production team based at the new Australian Broadcasting Corporation Studios in Perth, as Series Producer of Can We Help?
